The state of affairs today has brought many artists and entertainers to a crossroads, begging the question: "What is more important? Entertaining the people or inspiring them? For 23-year-old Nyasia Chane'l in her third year as a professional musician this question weighed on her.
"I sat back and watched people risk arrest, risk COVID-19 to protest and fight against white supremacy and police brutality", Nyasia reflects, "I need to create a record that would express my emotions and also help to inspire others to get more involved."
The granddaughter of immigrants from Barbados Nyasia Chane'l tapped into her Caribbean roots and went to a dancehall/reggae classic "Can't Stop Us Now" by George Nooks aka the prince of conscious reggae. Powered by the "Dr. Darling Riddim" released in 2004. Nyasia updated the record to reflect the times and serve as a rallying cry for people of all stripes and colors to get involved and bring positive and sustainable change to the United States. Released on October 2, 2020 Nyasia's "Can't Stop Us" has already garnered major radio airplay across the country, including New York's Hot 97 and Power 105.1.
Teaming up with Creative & Soulful Entertainment and Goodthyme Click Entertainment, proceeds from "Can't Stop Us" and related merchandise will go to reputable organizations dedicated to the movement for black lives. Starting with www.JusticeForBreonna.org
Nyasia Chane'l plans to continue to use her growing platform to help inspire a positive change as she continues her journey as an Entertainer and Entrepreneur.
